Breeders
Every bird you breed, traceable for life.
Register your birds from hatch, record their parentage, and hand each record to its new owner when it’s sold. Your birds stay traceable long after they leave your aviary.
For your aviary
Built for the way breeders work
-
Register from hatch
Record each chick with its band, hatch date, colours and variety, choosing from pictures if that’s quicker.
-
Parentage and family lines
Link sire and dam to their registered records, or describe them if they aren’t on BIRD. See each bird’s family at a glance.
-
Transfer on sale
Send a bird’s record to its buyer by email. They accept with a free account, and the bands, photos and history go with it.
-
Keep sight of your lines
After a bird moves on, you still see the family line you bred. Its new owner can’t rewrite the parentage you recorded.
Verified breeders
A badge buyers can trust
Anyone can record the birds they breed. Breeders who want buyers to know they’re genuine can apply to become a Verified breeder. We check your details by hand, and your aviary name is then shown with a badge on the records of birds you’ve bred, including on transfers.
Apply to be verifiedWhat we ask for
- Your aviary or stud name, phone number and suburb
- The species you breed
- Your club or society memberships, and the band codes you use
- Any keeper or breeder licence numbers your state requires
- An ABN, if you have one
Verification confirms who you are. It isn’t an endorsement of your birds or your practices.
Common questions
I band through my club. Do I need different bands?
No. Record your club bands exactly as they are, with your club as the issuer. BIRD accepts every club, society and manufacturer format. How BIRD works with clubs.
What if the buyer doesn’t have a BIRD account?
Send the transfer to their email address. They’ll get an invitation to create a free account and accept it. The offer stays open for 30 days, and you can cancel it at any time before then.
Can buyers see my contact details?
Buyers see your name as the breeder, or your aviary name with a badge if you’re verified. Nothing else.
Is there a limit on how many birds I can register?
No. Registration is free, whether you keep two birds or two hundred.
